Privacy policy
Short version: the Awayproof extension doesn't collect personal data, doesn't read your messages and doesn't use analytics. Your settings stay in your browser. Starting the free trial sends nothing anywhere. If you subscribe, our payment provider Dodo Payments handles the purchase and receives your email address, and the extension sends your license key to Dodo Payments to check your subscription.
Who we are
Awayproof is a browser extension that keeps your Microsoft Teams and Slack web status active while you work away from the keyboard. Awayproof is made by Vértice Tecnologia Global LTDA (CNPJ 67.764.810/0001-95), Rio do Sul, SC, Brazil. In this policy, "we" and "us" means Vértice Tecnologia Global LTDA. You can reach us at support@awayproof.com.
Awayproof is not affiliated with Microsoft or Slack.
What the extension does inside Teams and Slack
On Teams and Slack web pages, Awayproof does two things:
- It tells the page that the tab is still visible and in use.
- It sends the same lightweight activity signal the Teams or Slack web app sends when you move your mouse.
It does not read, store or send your messages, channels, files, contacts, calendar or any other content from those pages.
Information stored on your device
Awayproof saves your settings using your browser's extension storage. That includes:
- Whether Teams and Slack are switched on or off
- Whether "Keep computer awake" is on
- Your work hours, weekdays and break windows
- Any other preferences you change in the popup
- When Awayproof last sent an activity signal to Teams and Slack, so the popup can show whether it's connected
- The days Awayproof was active (the last 30 at most), used only to decide when to ask whether it's helping
- When your free trial started, so reinstalling Awayproof doesn't restart it
- Your license key, its activation ID and the last subscription status Awayproof checked
This information stays in your browser, except that your license key is sent to Dodo Payments to check your subscription (see below). We don't receive it, and it isn't sent to any server we run. If you use your browser's sync feature, the browser may sync extension data between your own devices under the browser vendor's terms.
Trial and payments
Awayproof offers a 7-day free trial, then a paid subscription. Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, which is the merchant of record: it runs the checkout, charges the subscription, and calculates, collects and remits sales tax and VAT.
- The free trial needs no card and no email. The extension saves the date your trial started in your browser's extension storage. Nothing is sent anywhere to start a trial.
- When you subscribe, you enter your email address and payment details on Dodo Payments' checkout. Dodo Payments receives and processes that information under its own privacy policy. We never see your full card number.
- Dodo Payments emails you a license key. When you enter it in the extension, Awayproof sends the key and a device label such as "Awayproof on macOS" to Dodo Payments to activate it, then checks it again about every 6 hours. If you choose Remove this browser, it sends the key and activation ID to Dodo Payments to release that activation. These requests contain only the license key, the activation ID and the device label: no messages and no browsing data.
- If your subscription is cancelled or lapses, Dodo Payments disables the key and Awayproof stops keeping you online. If Awayproof can't reach Dodo Payments for 3 days, a paid license pauses until it can check again.
- We can see your orders in Dodo Payments, such as your email address, plan and payment status, so we can answer support questions and handle refunds.
What we don't do
- No analytics, tracking pixels or usage statistics in the extension.
- No advertising.
- We don't sell, rent or trade personal information.
- We don't read or collect the content of your Teams or Slack workspaces.
Permissions the extension asks for
| Permission | Why it's needed |
|---|---|

power | Powers the optional "Keep computer awake" setting, which stops the computer from sleeping or auto-locking while Awayproof is active. |
alarms | Checks your work hours and breaks on a timer so Awayproof starts and stops on schedule. |
Access to Microsoft Teams sites (teams.microsoft.com, teams.cloud.microsoft, teams.live.com) | Lets Awayproof keep the Teams tab marked as visible and in use. |
Access to Slack (app.slack.com) | Lets Awayproof keep the Slack tab marked as visible and in use. |
Access to Dodo Payments (live.dodopayments.com, test.dodopayments.com) | Used only to activate your license key and check that your subscription is active. |
