Teams and Slack, separately
Turn each service on or off on its own. Keep Teams green and let Slack do its own thing, or the other way round.
Awayproof is a browser extension that keeps your Teams and Slack status Available while you read, think or take a call away from the keyboard. When your work day or lunch break starts, it steps aside and you go Away like normal.
No card needed for the trial. Works in Chrome, Brave, Edge and other Chromium browsers.
Teams and Slack decide you're away when the mouse and keyboard go quiet. That works fine at a desk. It works badly when your job involves reading a long document, sketching on paper, thinking through a problem or taking a call on your phone.
A few minutes in, the green dot turns yellow. Colleagues assume you've stepped out, messages wait longer than they need to, and you end up nudging the mouse just to look present. Awayproof takes care of that, and only during the hours you choose.
Awayproof tells Teams and Slack the tab is still visible and in use, and sends the same small "I'm active" signal those web apps send when you move your mouse.
Add Awayproof to Chrome, Edge, Brave or another Chromium browser. The 7-day trial starts without a card.
Use teams.microsoft.com or app.slack.com as usual. The tab can sit in the background while you work elsewhere.
Pick when Awayproof should keep you online. Outside those times it stops, and you go Away the normal way.
No dashboards, no accounts to manage. A handful of settings that do one job well.
Turn each service on or off on its own. Keep Teams green and let Slack do its own thing, or the other way round.
Choose a start time, an end time and which weekdays count. Overnight shifts that cross midnight work too.
Add as many break windows as you need, each with its own weekdays. During a break Awayproof steps back so you show as Away.
Optionally stops your computer from sleeping or auto-locking while Awayproof is active, so your session stays alive.
The toolbar icon is green while Awayproof is keeping you online and grey when it's paused, like during a break or after hours.
Available in English, Portuguese, Spanish, German and French.
Awayproof isn't meant to keep you green around the clock. You tell it when your work day runs and when you take breaks, and it only keeps you online inside those windows.
Awayproof doesn't look at your messages, channels or files. It doesn't have analytics, and it doesn't send your settings anywhere. The only thing it does inside Teams and Slack is say "this tab is still in use."
7 days free, no card required. Both plans include every feature.
Good if you want to keep it flexible.
Works out to about $2.42 a month.

Including the things Awayproof can't do.
No. Awayproof is a browser extension, so it only works with the web versions: teams.microsoft.com and app.slack.com open in a tab in Chrome, Brave, Edge or another Chromium browser. If you use the desktop apps, you would need to switch to the web versions for Awayproof to help.
Yes. The tab has to be open and the browser has to be running. It doesn't need to be the tab you're looking at. Awayproof tells Teams and Slack the tab is still visible and in use, so it can sit in the background while you work in other tabs.
No. Awayproof only prevents the automatic switch to Away caused by inactivity. If you set yourself to Busy, Do not disturb, Be right back or Appear away, that choice stays as you set it.
If the computer sleeps, the lid is closed or you lock the screen yourself, the browser stops running normally and Teams or Slack may show you as Away. The optional Keep computer awake setting prevents sleep and the automatic screen lock while Awayproof is active, but it can't stop a manual lock or a closed lid.
No. Awayproof doesn't read messages, channels, files or any other content. It sends the same lightweight activity signal the Teams and Slack web apps send when you move your mouse, and nothing else. It collects no personal data and has no analytics.
That depends on your employer. Awayproof is built for people who are working but not touching the keyboard, such as reading, thinking or taking a call. Some organizations have rules about presence indicators or browser extensions. Check your organization's policies and use Awayproof in line with them.
Set your work hours and add breaks, such as lunch. Outside those windows Awayproof stops, so Teams and Slack show you as Away on their normal timers. You can also switch Teams or Slack off individually in the popup. The toolbar icon is green when Awayproof is active and grey when it's paused.
Microsoft and Slack change their web apps regularly. An update can temporarily stop Awayproof from working until the extension is updated to match. If that happens, email support@awayproof.com and mention which service and browser you use.
You get 7 days free with no card or email required. After that it's $3.99 per month or $29 per year. Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, which emails you a license key to enter in the extension, and you can cancel anytime.
